Baby, Get to know me, Life

39 weeks….Hurry Up & Wait

August 5, 2015

Mark spent all of his past weekend nesting. I have never seen Mark vacuum and mop our entire house with such a vengeance. Not only that, he bleached our shower, organized his office and about 10 other things that desperately needed to be done. So..I send a HUGE shout out to my man! Thank you for basically doing everything I needed to do around the house!

While Mark nested, I folded laundry. And took a nap. And hung the last decoration in the nursery.

Wow. I’m officially 39 weeks pregnant and time is moving sooooo sloooooowly. What is that about patience being a virtue? Holy moly…I need to be more virtuous. I’m trying to do everything I can to keep myself busy so I don’t twiddle my thumbs hoping every weird body thing I experience is the Bean trying to make his debut!

Fixing a recall on my car (the dealership, not me!), a Costco trip with my mom, lunch out with friends, a pedicure, work, freezer cooking…

What is baby up to at 39 weeks?
(from BabyCenter.com)

  • Baby is waiting to greet the world!
  • He continues to build a layer of fat to help control his body temperature after birth, but it’s likely he already measures about 20 inches and weighs a bit over 7 pounds, about the size of a mini-watermelon. (Boys tend to be slightly heavier than girls.) (At my last appointment, the Bean was estimated to be close to 8 lbs!)
  • The outer layers of his skin are sloughing off as new skin forms underneath.

How is mama feeling?

Out!

Rings?

On.

Stretch Marks?

None that I can see!

Starting to slow down – he’s totally out of room!

Symptoms

Nausea
LOTS of contractions and cramping
Pelvic pressure

Cravings

Nothing new or interesting. I still eat SO much watermelon and drink SO much water. We also caved and bought some Banana Pudding ice-cream last weekend…it was incredible. I’m basically eating small meals throughout the day. These are a couple of meal highlights from the last couple of days…

Grilled Shrimp/Pepper/Pineapple Skewer

Please send prayers and positive thoughts my way! I would love for the Bean to make his way healthily into the world sooner rather than later! 😉

  • Though we don’t personally know each other I’ve thoroughly enjoyed following your pregnancy and am eagerly anticipating the “He’s here” photos. You rocked this thing and he’s a lucky boy to have such well-prepared and loving parents. You’re going to be fine. Labor is, well, labor, but we already know you excel in doing work. I gave birth 25 years ago and was not anywhere near your caliber of readiness or fitness. I breezed through it and you will to. Hang in there. You’re in the last mine of the marathon. Good luck!
