My sweet friend Jessica agreed to share her wise words with everyone today! Jessica is a great friend of mine who is a strong, sincere, beautiful go-getter and a personal trainer for GO Personal Training– the company that started my obsession with Fit Camp.
On the subject of goals…here’s what Jessica had to say about how stepping into something completely foreign, turned into something completely fulfilling.
“Are your dreams really yours? Have you ever stopped to listen to what your heart and mind truly want? So many of us are pursuing a goal, career or dream that once suited us because of where we were in life, who we were surrounded by and what they thought was ideal. We take so many different turns and have so many experiences that it is important to LISTEN to what our gut is telling us. Don’t be afraid to make big changes because there may be nothing scarier than being stuck in a life that does not allow you to thrive in your purpose.” –Lori Harder
Reading this statement from one of my favorite fitness professionals really resonates with me. I chose to go to college and pursue a degree in Business and Finance with the ultimate goal of working in Corporate America. I like that business is very black and white, not a lot of emotions are involved and the right side needs to equal the left. Simple right? Wrong.
Sometimes taking a step into the unknown can be the only way you find out what you are truly capable of. I took a risk stepping into a career that was unfamiliar. I was an athlete growing up and dabbled in the gym but never anticipated being able to gain the knowledge and confidence to be able to help others change their lives through proper training and nutrition.
Having this opportunity to help change people lives for the better is the most fulfilling feeling I have ever felt. The ability to be able to help someone regain strength, push harder than they ever have, believe in themselves is something I look forward to every day.
Working full-time as a personal trainer for GO Personal Training couldn’t be further from what I “thought” I should be doing at this point in my life. But you know what? I wouldn’t change it for anything. My clients have become my friends and my family and I am so grateful to have them in my life. They push me to want to be better and do better every day.
GO out and do more of what makes YOU happy. And a few Burpees!
