I’m constantly on the search for a way, other than eating a bowl of greens the size of Mars, to get vegetables incorporated into my breakfast. Besides the obvious nutrient benefits of veggies, starting your day with something that doesn’t spike your blood sugar out of control (like pancakes and syrup, cereal, and bagels!!) is the BEST thing you can do for your body, your quest for a flat stomach, and your energy levels!
After trying many, many different things, the only affordable and efficient way I’ve been able to get a super dose of greens (and other incredible things!) is from a greens supplement. While I’m not usually one to promote supplementing something like greens (I usually say– EAT your vegetables, people!), I’m in the midst of a time in life when I have very little time to do things like make breakfast every morning, yet my health is still of utmost importance.
I have now made this smoothie bowl almost every morning for about 2 weeks. I know this sounds like a weird thing to say about a smoothie bowl– but since starting 2 weeks ago, my energy has definitely increased and my head feels clearer. I have some weird issues with a lot whey-based protein powders and, for the first time ever, I’ve found a a powdered protein source that doesn’t make me feel kinda yucky. Energy, clear headedness, greens, and protein— yes please! My magic ingredient is Amazing Grass Protein Superfood. Amazing Grass Protein SuperFood:
- contains a unique blend of USDA Organic pea, hemp, chia and quinoa, delivering 20g of complete plant-based protein per serving
- contains 7 alkalizing organic greens and two-full servings of fruits and vegetables
- Each flavor is grain-free, paleo friendly, mixes well with whatever liquid you desire, and is exactly what I’ve been looking for!
Here’s my smoothie bowl recipe:
4oz of full fat canned coconut milk (Almond milk also works, but coconut milk tastes the best!)
4 oz of water
1 scoop of Amazing Grass Protein Superfood
1 handful of spinach
1/2 cup frozen pineapple
3/4 cup frozen cherries Blend all ingredients together and pour into a bowl. I top mine with 1/2 of a banana, chia seeds, frozen blueberries, and unsweetened shredded coconut– but you can top it with whatever you like.
