I’ll get straight to the point: I’m going to be taking a step away from blogging.
I’m not saying goodbye forever…more a “see you (much) later.”
Here’s the deal:
Blogging is SO competitive these days. 5 years ago, when I started The Funky Fork, I was passionate about writing about my fitness and nutrition knowledge while sprinkling in some daily life stuff. Fast forward to today and the blogging world is completely saturated with blogs featuring those exact topics. Professional photographers, SEO optimizers, tech teams— these are just a few of the employees that some bloggers hire to keep their blogs relevant, beautiful, and a top result when you search for certain things on Google. This doesn’t scare me (it used to motivate me!), I just don’t have it in me at this point to take The Funky Fork to the next level.
I’m going to have another human to take care of. In case you have not heard the news, I’m 17 weeks pregnant at the time of this post. The thought of being up throughout the night, nursing all day, wrangling a toddler, being an attentive wife, running our household, working as a part time fitness trainer, and keeping up with a blog is overwhelming to me. I’ve been working hard to take things off my plate in this season of life. And, in all respects, taking a break from blogging is the easiest thing for me to take off that list. Being a very present mom while my kiddos are under school age is of highest priority to me. I will gladly sacrifice what I need to to make this possible.
I’m excited to write in other ways. While extremely premature and a very future goal, I’ve ALWAYS wanted to write a fiction book. I’ve hardly shared this with anyone but it’s something I’ve been working on for years. I write a little bit of the story along and along (meaning I add something to the Word file on my computer every month or 2). I’ve made a connection with a publisher and once my little ones are no longer as little, I have plans to pursue this dream a bit more. (What’s the saying?! If your goal doesn’t scare you, it’s not big enough?! This scares the crud out of me!)
BUT, I am not dropping off the face of the planet. I still post on Instagram a bunch (@thefunkyfork). Follow me there to keep up with life and mostly funny/cute videos of my daily life.
Catch you on the flip side!
