Can I get a BIG hallelujah!?
I think Spring is here. Or at least I hope so…because I packed all of our winter coats/clothing in a big container to put in the attic of our new house.
We returned from our snowboarding/ski this weekend and I have been in full-blown packing and nesting mode ever since. I’ve thrown away, donated or boxed-up about half of our things. Mark and I also spent some time picking out things like barstools, rugs, window treatments, and art for our new place. Our house is really coming together! (AND, I might add, we are just bout 2 weeks from being completely done building! Another hallelujah, please!)
I can honestly say that I’m SO happy that we decided to build a house. Our builder is fantastic and we really love his style and workmanship. It has been an amazing experience! (If you’re local to St. Augustine and looking to build a house–or even add on to the one you have– I can’t recommend Entire Construction enough!)
Throughout the homebuilding process, I have dreamed and researched the concept and decor of our home. So, decorating and making our house a home with my Restoration Hardware taste on a Ikea budget has been a fun challenge. Here are my most favorite resources for making this happen:
1: Rugs USA: I have not found a better resource for affordable rugs. They’re almost always running a 70 or 75% sale on a ton of rugs. PLUS, they always offer free shipping (this is a HUGE deal considering the cost of rug shipping on home furniture sites can cost almost as much as the rug!). These are the ones I’m purchasing for our house (click the pictures of each rug to be taken directly to the purchase page):
“Maui Chunky Loop Beige Rug” (7 1/2 ft x 10 1/2 ft) at 70% off for $143.70
These 3 rugs cost a total of $590.10. (Without the 70% discount, they would have cost $1,967.00!!)
2: One Kings Lane: My, hands-down, favorite resource for doo-dads, lighting, and bath/bedding. It can take some patience and a vision to comb the sales and find what you’re looking for, but the time and effort spent is definitely worth it! Here are a couple of my favorite finds:
This Large Teak Carving Board ($19– 62% off)
This Set of 3 Round Sea- Grass Baskets ($59– 61% off)
This Wylie Linen Pouf ($75– 83% off)
This Arbor Table Lamp ($99– 59% off)
This Navy Blue Cashmere Throw Blanket ($109– 64% off)
3. World Market: I’m totally obsessed with this place. I spent a good 30 minutes just browsing their shower curtains and candy selection. Affordable prices and ultra awesome stuff! Win-win. We decked out Mark’s Man Cave/home office with these pieces:
Campaign Desk ($229)
Round Bookcase ($380)
Metal Shelf Unit ($80-$100)
Do you know of any affordable home sites that I need to check out??
