A New Celebration

August 30, 2013

So…this really had nothing to do with today’s post, but I wanted to share. In-between some meetings yesterday, I got a chance to walk around a bit. It was a gorgeous Colorado day and I was feeling particularly awed by the scenery around me, so I leaned against a tree and took it all in. It was so incredibly beautiful:

When I looked up, this is what I saw

When I looked up, this is what I saw

This is what I saw when I looked down...

This is what I saw when I looked down…

This is what I saw in front of me...

This is what I saw in front of me…

This is what I saw behind me...

This is what I saw behind me…

Amazing, huh? Sometimes it’s the little things that really make me feel blessed!

Anyways…

It’s official, I have been “eating healthier” for a full year now. What this really means is that I’ve significantly lowered my sugar intake, only eaten regular bread and processed food products on very rare occasions, increased my fat intake, and increased my vegetable intake threefold. Coupled with the focus and work that I’ve put in at Fit Camp over the last 12 months, I’m feeling really good. I weigh the same as I did a year ago, but my body has changed (for the better) in subtle-but-noticeable-to-me ways.

It’s weird though, because my perspective on health and fitness has changed along with my eating habits. I’m pretty thrilled about being strong and having good endurance. I enjoy working out because I truly love how good it makes me feel. I now eat what I eat in order to nourish my body and fuel it the very best way I know how. I don’t really care about being really skinny or any of the more superficial stuff I used to be into. I care much more about how good I feel and how well my clothes fit. It’s really fun, one year later, to be in a place of true acceptance of myself instead of always trying to fix something.

Thanks for letting me share that with you all!

Have a beautiful Friday!
