It’s July which means that it’s really hot and humid in Florida…so when I read fitness magazines or website suggesting elaborate beach workouts, I often wonder whether they’re designed for people on the beaches of Alaska because there’s no way I would be able to do a one-hour bodyweight session by myself on the beach and stay motivated enough to get through it.
Instead, how about a 15 minute workout (using only bodyweight movements) that you can start your day with (indoors!). According to Women’s Health Magazine, “a study in the European Journal of Applied Physiology found that 15 minutes of training was just as effective at boosting participants’ metabolism as 35 minutes. Another study found that women had a better chance of sticking to a plan if they only had to commit to 15-minute sessions.”
As often as I can, I like to spend the first 15 minutes of my day doing something to get the blood flowing. That way, even if I don’t do an actual gym workout, I can feel satisfied that I managed to squeeze something in.
