Waking Up on the Right Side of the Bed

October 29, 2013

Ohhhh hey!

Well, I made it back from New Orleans in one piece. No beads, probably about 5 pounds heavier… and I laughed my face off for a solid 4 days. It was great. I’ll talk more about it tomorrow!

Instead, I’m going to talk about me waking up on the right side of the bed this morning. Instead of going to the gym, I rode my bike for 30 minutes then did a burpee/squat/push up combo on the beach. My music was on point, I loved breathing in the crisp, fresh air, the sunrise was gorgeous and the folks walking the beach were even friendlier than usual.

Please tell me you can relate to this–even my shower was awesome today. I had all brand-new bath products, including a couple of splurges (fancy body wash, a new face wash that I’ve been tempted to try for a while, and a body scrub that was gifted to me). There’s something about all of those new, good smells that just made it a good shower.

THEN, I made a breakfast sandwich. We’ve been out of Canadian Bacon for a while so I haven’t made one in a month or two. Holy goodness. I forgot how much I love them. It’s that sweet and salty flavor combo that I can’t get enough of!

I read my Bible for a bit, sipped some tea, threw together a quick lunch, wrote this post, kissed Mark goodbye and was out the door for the day.

It feels great to find your groove in the morning. For me, it’s all about having a routine. Not feeling rushed, but doing the things that really matter to me before heading off to my work day. Essentially, it’s about 2 hours of “me” time!

Other things that get my day off to a good start:

-guinea pig snuggles

-Coco Cafe

-waking up to a clean kitchen

-Mark and I praying together

-meeting a friend for coffee

-hitting all the green lights on the way to work

I hope you have an incredible day. Take deep breaths and smile a lot 🙂
