Fit Camp, Workouts

Workout Smorkout

April 10, 2013

So…vacation is really over. I’m back to the office, cleaning the guinea pig cage, making healthy food choices and working out.

Go me! I did a pull-up!

Go me! I did a pull-up!

When I see a friend that I haven’t seen in a while, 90% of them say, “I see all of your Facebook pictures; you’re always at the gym” or “what is that Fit Camp thing that I see you posting about?” I’ve somehow fooled the world into perceiving me as this workout fiend. While that’s kind of cool, it’s actually pretty far from the truth.

I firmly, whole-heartedly, 100% believe that being healthy is 75% nutrition and 25% fitness. I love to work out but tend to go in cycles. For a month or two, I’m diehard committed to attending  Fit Camp and the gym and yoga class. I don’t miss a workout. Then, after about 8 weeks or so, my body apparently needs to recoup. I feel myself being unusually exhausted, totally unmotivated, and downright sick at the thought of going to the gym. This is, however, when I eat the healthiest. When my body is tired and healing, I need to nourish it with good stuff!

All this being said, my gym workouts may fluctuate but I never miss Fit Camp. I LOVE it with a passion. Even though I’m more tired some days than others, I always commit myself to going and I feel great when I leave. So, even if I only go to Fit Camp (which is 2x per week), I’m still getting 2 crazy, ridiculously tough workouts. In my world, I’m perfectly as peace with that.

My food for the day:

Breakfast:

An extremely rare treat- Kashi blueberry waffles!

Fresh strawberries

about 1/2 tablespoon of Kerrygold butter

about 1 tablespoon of maple syrup

homemade iced coffee

breakfast2

Lunch:

Homemade sloppy joe meat:

3 oz of grass-fed ground beef

1 tablespoon Annie’s organic ketchup

1 tablespoon of French’s mustard

an orange

…I’m not posting a picture of lunch because although extremely tasty, the sloppy joe meat does not look appetizing.

Snack:

Horizon organic mozzarella stick

2 oz. Boar’s Head ovengold turkey breast

a small handful of cashews

Dinner:

Sautéed Shrimp (with coconut oil and parsley)

about a tablespoon of hot Kerrygold butter and garlic

about 1 cup of green beans

shared about 1 1/2 cups of grapes with Mark for dessert

I did not eat nearly enough vegetables today…

…I’ll make up for it tomorrow!

Have a happy night! 😀
